Know your game
What's your
pickleball rating?
Golf has handicaps. Tennis has ladders and leagues. Pickleball has DUPR — a global rating system that gives you a single number representing your skill level, earned entirely from your match results.
You don't need one to enjoy WilloBees. But as your game grows, a DUPR rating opens doors — to higher-level sessions, competitions, and the satisfaction of watching a number go up.
What is DUPR?
Dynamic Universal
Pickleball Rating.
DUPR is the global standard for measuring pickleball skill — used by over 1.5 million players across 60+ countries, backed by the professional tours, and increasingly required for tournament entry.
Your rating is a number between 2.0 and 8.0 — calculated entirely from your match results. Not a self-assessment. Not a guess. A number that reflects how you actually play.
It updates automatically every time you play a rated match — and since a July 2025 algorithm update, every single point counts, not just whether you won or lost.
Global & portable
Your rating travels with you. A 3.5 in Sydney is a 3.5 in New York or London. Play anywhere and find your level instantly.
Earned, not given
Unlike self-reported skill levels, DUPR is calculated from verified match results. No inflation, no guesswork.
Two ratings
DUPR tracks singles and doubles separately — your numbers can differ significantly between formats.
Always current
Your rating updates after every rated match. The more you play, the more accurate it becomes.
The rating scale
Where do you
sit on the scale?
Most WilloBees members sit in the 2.9–3.9 range. The column on the right shows how each band maps to our session groupings — the same system you'll see in OpenSports.
Do I need a rating?
Honest answer: it depends.
😊 You don't need one if...
You're playing purely for fun and social connection
You're happy in your current session group
Tournaments aren't on your radar yet
You've just started and are still finding your feet
🎯 It starts to matter when...
You feel ready to move up to a higher-level group
You want to enter a tournament — most now require one
You want to track your improvement objectively
You're playing the Mixed Doubles League — DUPR helps with placement
How to get a rating
Four steps.
Simpler than you think.
You don't need to do anything special. Just sign up, play DUPR-rated sessions through OpenSports, and your rating builds automatically in the background.

Look for DUPR-rated sessions
In OpenSports, DUPR-rated sessions are clearly labelled. Play in these sessions and your results are automatically submitted — no extra steps needed.
Play and let the algorithm work
After enough rated matches, your DUPR rating appears automatically. The more you play, the more accurate it becomes.
Watch your rating evolve
Your rating updates after every rated match. Beat a higher-rated player and it goes up. The algorithm now scores every point, not just the final result.
